I’ve been interested in health and nutrition basically my whole life. I was a real skinny kid in high school but finally started working out on January 1st of my senior year.

Since then, I have continued with fitness my entire adult life. While I surely was a skinny kid in high school, now I must say I am in the top one percent of men my age in terms of fitness and overall muscularity.

Having these lifelong interests, I’ve always been focused on nutrition and fitness in my medical practice, especially in those patients who have similar interests.

Several years, prior to the “pandemic,” a friend of mine made me aware of a medical aesthetic device called Emsculpt. I set up a demonstration of the device in my office on my abdominal region. As soon as I finished the treatment, I noticed three things.

Number one: I had never felt such intense engagement of my lower abdominal muscles, regardless of what abdominal exercise I would do.

Number two: as soon as I stood up following the procedure, I noticed my posture was improved. This demonstrates how important abdominal strength is to good posture.

Number three: when I went home, I wanted to test a hypothesis. The core is basically the foundation of all other muscles. You can obviously jump much higher from a firm surface than from sand. Similarly, when your core is stronger, all other muscles that attach to your core should be stronger. Considering this concept, I attempted to perform a muscle-up in my garage gym. I used to do them in the past, only after much training and practice, since they are a pretty challenging calisthenic move. I stopped doing them years earlier after developing some shoulder impingement problems. Amazingly, following the single treatment, I was actually able to do a muscle-up again.

All this proved to me how powerful the device was. So I purchased it and started using it on myself and on my patients.

The device uses pulse electromagnetic field (PEMF) energy to induce powerful muscle cell contractions. A 30-minute treatment session gives you the equivalent of 20,000 muscle contractions.

How many workouts would that represent?

Let’s say you do three abdominal workouts per week of 100 crunches. That would be a total of 300 crunches per week.

Now, most people, even if they have very good mind-muscle connection, only have a recruitment of a maximum of 40% of the muscle fibers per muscular contraction. And, when the muscle fatigues during the workout, this recruitment can drop to 20% or so. Let’s average it at 30%. So, 30% of those 300 crunches would equate to 90 “complete” contractions.

Now, the Emsculpt device allows a recruitment of basically 95% of the muscle fibers.

Considering all this, one 30-minute treatment session (20,000 contractions times 95% recruitment which would equate to 19,000 “complete” contractions), would equate to 211 weeks of those abdominal workouts I mentioned above (if you do the math).

Over time, I purchased two other medical devices to complement the EmSculpt, a TempSure Firm infrared (IR) radio frequency (RF) device (basically a heat laser), and a Neubie direct current (DC) electrical stimulation (ES) device.

I use these in concert with the EmSculpt and have developed an innovative and highly effective body sculpting program using these three high-tech energy-based modalities.

As I’m an expert in metabolic medicine, and highly trained and experienced in hormonal assessment and optimal replacement, those individuals who undergo this body sculpting program also have the advantage of making sure their hormone systems are optimal.

Cortisol, insulin, thyroid, sex, hormones, and growth hormones are very involved with minimizing excess body, fat and maximizing muscle mass.

Considering this, my patients in this body sculpting program will have all these important hormone systems addressed, and any problems will be identified and thereby corrected.

In conclusion, my interest in fitness as well as hormonal optimization allows my patients, as long as they’re properly motivated, to make incredible strides in their own fitness and body composition, in terms of minimizing body fat and maximizing lean muscle.
